CDV Legal Advocacy
MCCA's Countering Domestic Violence trained Court Advocates are located in the Law and Justice Center. Our Court Advocates assist victims of domestic violence by providing them with information about their legal rights, assisting with Orders of Protection, explaining the court procedures, and supporting victims through the court process. The Advocate also accompanies clients to the courtroom. Contact a Court Advocate at the Domestic Violence Unit by calling (309) 888-5521.
The Illinois AVN system is a service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or internet to search for information regarding the custody and case status of their offender and to register to receive telephone and email notification when the offender’s custody or court status changes. The toll-free number for the Illinois AVN system is (866) 566-8439. This service is provided to assist victims of crime who have a right to know about their offender’s custody and case status. We believe that a community that is well-informed about domestic violence will lead to community members that are involved in finding solutions. Partnerships with other community organizations, businesses, agencies, churches and educational institutions are fundamental in our work. CDV staff is available for in-services, staff training, school dating violence prevention programs, and community presentations.
